Amazon.com – Secrets to Shopping & Saving
Many of our customers are savvy Amazon shoppers, but I was surprised when I asked around and found that not many of you know about Amazon’s Gold Box Deals or their amazing Lightning Deals. As my first grade teacher used to say, “Put on your thinking caps,” I’m going to teach you about a fabulous money saving tip for bargain shopping on Amazon.com.
At the top of Amazon’s website to the right of the Amazon logo you’ll find the link “Today’s Deals.” Click on the link and you’re off to a wonderland of Amazon bargains. The page shows you Gold Box, New Deals. Every Day. This box features the day’s bargain pick. The day I’m writing about this jewel of a page, the Gold Box deal happens to be for the InStep Safari Swivel Jogger. A jogging stroller with swivel wheels made for active parents, offered today at a savings of 28%. A Gold Box deal lasts for one day or while supplies last. You can’t go wrong checking here before you make your purchase on Amazon or any other website for that matter.
My favorite feature on this Amazon page is called Lightning Deals. This is where spectacular deals are offered for a limited amount of hours. The preview box lets you know if the deal is current, expired or coming soon. Each current and expired deal displays an image of the product, the name, retail list price, Amazon’s list price and the Gold Box Discount. As I write this I see an expired deal on a digital media software package that brought a savings of 45% off. I also see a deal coming up in the next few hours that I may want to come back and snap up; a set of diamond stud earrings. A countdown clock tells me the deal will start in 3 hours, 12 minutes and 47 seconds. That’s when I’ll log back in and find out if the savings is enough to make we want to pull the trigger on purchasing the earrings.
The drawback to this is if you don’t pay attention to when the deal expires and make a purchase after the deadline, you won’t get the special pricing. So make sure you check when the Lightning Deal expires. If you spend too much time going back and forth in the cart you should see an alert that tells you your time to get the bargain is limited, so pay attention.
Also on the Gold Box page Amazon features more of their best deals. The deals can be sorted by percent off, price and newest. If you’re a bargain hunter this is the place to go when shopping on Amazon.
At the very bottom of the page is a customer discussion called the Gold Box forum. On this forum you can get valuable feedback, both positive and negative about any Amazon purchase you may be considering. This is helpful when you’re on the fence about buying something and want to make sure the product meets customer expectations.
